Grizzly Mountain Lodge is Growling Again!

Hello Friends,

Well it has been too long since we took our house off the market. Life caught up with us and we decided to let our home go fallow. However, this season we have been emailed…called…and Facebook’ed into putting Grizzly Mountain Lodge back on the rental market!  The same place, same view, same mountains, and the same comfort! Whether your Hiking, Discovering Waterfalls, shopping for unique antiques, eating great food, or simply saying home and taking in the view – GML is open again for staging your new memories.

White Water Rafting on the Chattooga River!

We have had several renters that have asked about white water rafting on the Chattooga River. Although, I have gone on many occasions, I still wouldn’t be able to give a helpful guide to rafting it. My attorney’s are simply not bigger than yours!  Luckily, I came across a wonderful paddling guide from Suzanne Welander, Chattooga River Paddling Guide. So sue her instead.

This blog describes parts of the river that have cool names like; Turn Hole Rapid, Earl’s Ford, Bulls Sluice, Eye of the Needle, Screaming Left Turn are all detailed for a beginner or an advanced paddler.  Two interactive maps of the river are also included. They detail every bend and turn!! Here are some of summaries. Also, I embedded some videos to scare you or encourage you. Not my job to judge. Check them out:

Free Tiger Mountain Wine in October at GML!

A couple of years ago, we started giving one bottle of local wine for our guests. Just a little

Tiger Mountain Wine

FREE wine at Grizzly Mountain Lodge

thank you. However, the local wines weren’t as cheap as I would have liked them to be. Running the promotion simply got too expensive.

Thus we will be running it periodically in the busy months.  For the month of October, we will be resurrecting the old promotion – A bottle of Tiger Mountain Wine for every rental over three nights! You just have to make your reservation prior to August 15th and it will waiting on the counter when you arrive!

I blog quite a bit about Tiger Mountain wines. The wines are very tasty, the winery has a great tasting room, and the owners are passionate about their work.

Take a few hours and go down and taste some of their wines. It is only about 10 miles from the Grizzly Mountain Lodge.

From the Cabin, Go left on Warwoman and take it to 441. Take a left and drive ~8 miles.

  • Look for GOATS ON THE ROOF– a rustic store with wonderful fresh produce and flowers – and yes, with real goats grazing on the roof. Turn left there onto the Tiger Connector. Go to the flashing red light (Tiger Food Mart, Post Office) and turn right (north) on Old Highway 441. Vineyards and winery – purple shutters and yellow awnings – are less than a mile up the road on the left. (Winery is 10 minutes south of Clayton.)

Take our Poll

4th of July at Tiger Mountain!

Looks like Tiger Mountain Vineyards is having another party!!! Great wines, good food and now they have added music. I aways love to stop by the vineyard after hiking the surrounding area. There tasting room is always stocked full of tastings and good cheese and fruit.

Check them out this July!

Sunburst Stables Zip lines and Horse back riding

Sunburst Stables

Great escape for a zip lining and horseback riding

Zip-lining in the North Georgia Mountains….Sautee to be exact.

Although this occurred a few weeks ago, I thought I would share because of just how much fun we had. I took Nikki and my daughter Marlee, to Sunburst Stables for some zip lining. I had been on a CEO retreat and had a blast. So I wanted to share the experience with them. It is only 35 mins from the house! Here are some of the experiences for only 50 dollars a person and one hour. Plus, Nikki is afraid of heights and it didn’t bother her for a second. She was scared on the platform, but she got over it half way down. The second video proves that because I think she tried doing it upside down!

Kids only have to be 40 pounds or more too! Mark the owner and guide is simply one of the nicest people. If you go, please tell him we said Hi!
